Congratulations to Westbrook U16 player, Stuart Turner who has signed a 2 year scholarship deal with the new Greater Western Sydney franchise.

Westbrook were represented in the Under 15 Starz side by Matty Baglin, Lachlan Sawtell, Ben Mobbs and Tom Edmonds.

The Starz team won three of their six games, with victories against the Rebels, Northern Heat and Pioneer sides. They suffered narrow losses to the top-ranked Cats and Pigeons after leading until late into both matches.

Matty Baglin was one of the leading goal kickers for the Starz with some dynamic forward and midfield play. Lachy Sawtell played some dashing football in a variety of positions and was instrumental in many of the team's best attacking moves during the carnival. Tom Edmonds was one of the Starz most consistent performers in a sweeping role across half-back while Ben Mobbs was tireless in the ruck, pulling down some strong marks around the ground. As in 2009, the 2010 U/16 STARZ had a fantastic carnival at The U15/U16 NSW AFL Championships, held at St Ignatius College, Riverview.

Westbrook representatives for the U/16's were: Brandon Jack, Chris Baglin, Reed Davies, Stuart Turner.

Chris Baglin, unfortunately, suffered an injury to his hip and missed the last two days of competition. The Starz had 5 convincing wins from 6 games. All the Westbrook boys performed at an extremely high standard, their commitment, courage, speed and determination were second to none. Congratulations on another successful championships. Westbrook Under 16 player Stephen Wray has just returned after representing NSW in the U15 School Boy Championships at Maroochydore last week. Stephen already a Swans Scholarship Player, performed so well that he was named in the All Australian Team. The only NSW player to achieve this honour.

Alex Rashleigh & Riley Miedler have been chosen to represent the North West Umpires Group at this weekend's U11 & U12 Rep Carnival at Marrickville.

North West U16s completed a fantastic day last Saturday with an 13.5.83 to 2.5.17 win in the Grand Final against Illawarra at Wollongong.

Congratulations to the following Westbrook players selected in the Starz U15 squad today:-    Reed Davies,  Stuart Turner,  Malen Watson & Stephen Wray.  The boys will play in the NSW Regional Championships at Riverview April 20 -23.

The season commences next Sunday 29/3/09 and although the draw is not yet available it is almost assured that we will be at home. Keep an eye on the website this week as the 1st Rd draw will be posted as soon as available. As it is a home game we will need parents to assist with canteen, BBQ and ground management.
