20 Teams and our Auskickers made their way to Greenway Park for a very special evening. Thank you to all our visiting clubs, teams and umpires for coming. Not only was it a chance to showcase AFL, we also took the opportunity to support Pink Ribbon on the eve of Mother’s Day. We proudly raised almost $2500 from all the activities!!
Congratulations to our major winners:
- Silent Auction: Swans match and access to rooms after game again went to Simone and Wayne from Chip Fast Tree Service. www.chipfasttreeservice.com.au
- Pink Raffle: Big Pink Hamper went to Rob & Janice Love! Fantastic to see one of our key volunteers on the night getting some reward!
We are grateful to those who donated prizes – the Raues, Murdochs, Whittinghams, Mardlings, Serovs, Vinks, the Sydney Swans, Westbrook AFL, Church and Dwight, Nilfisk, AMF, and Entertainment Book. Thanks also to AFL Sydney Juniors for lending us the ‘Big Kick’.
This is an important event to me personally, but nights like this don’t just happen, and a few individuals went over and above to assist myself and my family to bring it to life.
I wish to extend a special mention to a couple of teenagers – Alicia and Nic Sparks. With parents away, Alicia prepared and directed the canteen on her own. Nic was there early to help and then spent 3 hours being ground manager on the lower field. We are really proud of you both – you set a fantastic example to everyone about community spirit.
Finally, thank you to the wonderful Cherrybrook Pink Ribbon crew who offered their time, resources and baking. To Amanda Whittingham and her band of helpers, your support was invaluable. Most of these families don’t have children playing AFL, but are drawn in by the Westbrook spirit.
